Project progress of LRT Taipa line
By the end of 2016, the civil works of the main structure of the LRT Taipa Line will have been completed primarily. The connections among the viaduct, of which the total length is 9.3 kilometers, and 11 stations have been completed. The main structure of all stations has been completed as well. In 2017, more works, including the interior decoration, water supply and drainage, the setting of electromechanical systems such as electricity systems, the construction of the sidewalks near the stations, and the reinstatement of the roads in the vicinity of the line, will be carried out subsequently. Meanwhile, the Taipa Line construction will enter the phase of train system equipment installation. The construction team will carry out a number of new works on the basis of the viaduct and stations which have been completed. They include the construction of the train bases, the installation of various types of train system equipment, and so on.

The construction work of the LRT depot superstructure was restarted in the third quarter of 2016. Learning from past experience, the government has made adjustments to the contract regulations of the new deport projects, by introducing a reward and penalty system which in one hand refines the requirements for works, and on the other hand introduces penalties in response to breaches of the regulations. A daily fixed penalty is arranged in response to the delay in meeting the construction target. The maximal penalty amounts to MOP 950,000 per day. These arrangements can increase the enforceability of penalties and at the same time strengthen the supervision of the construction progress. On the other hand, conditions about rewarding were also established. If the contractor can meet the construction target, and complete the whole project in advance, it will be rewarded with the prize money amounting to 8% of the total cost as specified in the bid.

According to the contract of the projects, the contractor must meet the construction target as specified below on time, or can fulfill the reward conditions upon early completion.

With the completion of the civil works of the main structure, the installation of train system equipment will be rolled out for the LRT Taipa Line, including the construction of a 49 km-long concrete structure of the running plinth on the viaduct, as well as the installation of the guider rails, power rails, signal cables and other important system devices.

To ensure the safety of train operation, independent and integration testing of different systems will be launched following the completion of civil construction and the installation of system equipment.
